Meet Bill Knowles
Bill is a life-long Washingtonian, having been born to a family whose Washington State roots extend to a time when Washington was a territory. Bill's great grandfather James migrated west from Ohio via the Oregon Trail and set up a home in Walla Walla. Bill has James' travel satchel and discharge paper from the Union army signed by President Abraham Lincoln.
Bill joined the Washington bar in 1987, and later joined the Oregon and Idaho bars. The majority of his practice has involved insurance coverage disputes, including several bench and jury trials, and appeals to various state courts of appeal. Bill has appeared in state and federal courts across the United States. In addition, he has tried a number of cases involving construction defect, product liablity, serious injury and wrongful death claims. After 35 years of a very active practice, Bill started his retirement from Cozen O'Connor in May 2022. A few months later, while building his first project in his "retirement" wood shop, he felt the pull to return to the legal profession with a focus on bringing parties together to resolve their disputes. In short, to build solutions like he was building a mid-century bench from reclaimed materials. Thus, IVI ADR was born.
IVI ADR's focus is resolving insurance coverage disputes, whether through mediation or binding arbitration. Those disputes include insured-insurer and insurer-insurer disputes. Bill brings his decades of legal and life experience to the negotiating and arbtration table with the intent of building a solution that will work for all the parties.
